Negroni was first mixed in Florence, Italy, in 1919. Count Camillo Negroni concocted it by asking the bartender to strengthen his favourite cocktail, the Americano by adding gin rather than the normal soda water. The bartender also added an orange garnish rather than the typical lemon garnish of the Americano to signify that it was a completely different drink.

Make your own:
- Chill a mixing glass with plenty of ice then pour over;
- 30ml Sipsmith Gin
- 30ml Martini Rosato
- 30ml Campari
- Give it a good old stir
- Pour into a glass
- Cut a strip of orange peel from an orange and gently squeeze it in half length-ways to release the vibrant orange flavours, and rub it around the ring of the glass before serving and pop it in the glass to finish.
If you want to be a bit fancy, add a spherical ice cube into the glass before pouring!
