One of Maria’s most prestigious teachers was the opera singer Montserrat Caballé, who was also instrumental in launching her career, believing that Maria would become a world-renowned dramatic coloratura soprano.

Maria has taken part in numerous international competitions and has won many awards. In November 2014, Maria became the Grand Prix winner of the London Song Festival at the Royal College of Music. That same year, she was a semi-finalist in the London Handel Singing Competition, performing at the Parish Church of St George in Hanover Square in London.

In 2009, she won first prize at the International Vocalist Contest dedicated to Vello Jurna, third prize at the 6th Claudia Taev International Competition of Opera Singers, first prize at the Baltic International Competition of Folk and Academic Song for Young Singers. In addition, in 2008 and 2009 she took part in the 28th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria (semi-final).

Maria has sung in front of HRH The King of the United Kingdom Charles III and his family, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Pope Francis.
