We are currently recruiting for the following positions at L'Ortolan:

Senior Waiter / Waitress £24 to £26kpa
 
Experience preferable - 2 years waiting experience in quality restaurant 
 
Duties: 

Train and continually develop the Restaurant team to achieve their personal best

• On a day to day basis plan, organise and direct the work of the Restaurant Team

• Lead by setting a good example

• Check all dining areas prior to service

• Maintain staff efficiency and morale in the restaurant at the highest level

• Resolve customer complaints about food quality or service

• Assist restaurant service to ensure a smooth and professional operation of the restaurant

• Assist the Restaurant Manager with telephone answering, reservations handling, welcoming guests, recommending menu and specials, taking orders, billing, maintain fresh flower arrangements, set up cooking classes with table decoration session, VIP guest management

• Learn and be fluent in menu ingredients, food preparations and special dietary requirements

• Maintain high personal appearance and hygiene standards.

• Be customer orientated, welcoming and friendly; maintain a professional & respectful attitude and behaviour to guests, colleagues & management
 
Waiter / Waitress - around £21kpa
• Deliver outstanding customer service at all times

• Welcoming customers and presenting menus 

• Taking orders - offering suggestions and demonstrating product knowledge at all times 
 
• Serving drinks and food to guests 
 
• Up-sell when appropriate 
 
• Accepting orders and payment
 
• Assist in setting up and closing down the restaurant areas ready for service or the next day
 
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff 
 

• Prior experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a fine dining restaurant an advantage.
 
 
Junior Sous Chef  - £27 to  £29kpa

REPORTING TO: Head Chef

Job Objective: To assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen through the implementation and management of procedures and the control of resources in accordance with the vision of L’Ortolan.

Relationships: Reports to the Head Chef or Sous Chef in the Head Chef’s absence. Responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with all team members. Help foster a good working relationship with all fellow colleagues within the restaurant and the company as a whole.

MAIN DUTIES

· As a junior sous chef you are expected to run and lead your section in a responsible manner

· Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen

· Ensure that the day’s tasks as set by the Head and Sous Chefs are actioned, but also that your own tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively while maintaining the standards of the kitchen

· Ensure food waste is kept to a minimum

· Ensure energy use ie gas, electric is kept to a minimum

· Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with ideas for new dishes that reflect the restaurant’s standards and customer expectations

· Ascertain the next day’s business and order foodstuffs accordingly

· Understand the construction of a budget and how you can affect and influence profit and loss results

· Demonstrate good knowledge of the financial targets outlined within the budget

· To communicate to the Head Chef any ideas that may help the business run more profitably / effectively or increase guest experience

 


Chef de Partie - around £24kpa
 

 

We are looking for a very professional chef who can work in a team and lead a section.The ideal candidate will:-


Have a passion for food & drink

Have high standards and pride in their work and their appearance.

Be hardworking, approachable, open and friendly

Thrive in a lively and fast-paced environment

Support to the sous chef and head chef

To be creative and innovative with quality ingredients in production and staging

Ensuring that we deliver the best menus that we can offer with innovation, imagination, flair and within the budget

Hygiene and other regulations, policies and procedures ·


 

Commis Pastry Chef  - £21kpa

To help maintain high levels of service and assist with the smooth running of the pastry kitchen.

Reports to the Head Pastry Chef. Responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with all team members. Help foster a good working relationship with all fellow colleagues within L’Ortolan and the company as a whole.

· As a Commis pastry Chef you are expected to help run the pastry section in a responsible manner

· Assist the pastry Chef in the day to day running of the section

· Ensure that the day’s tasks as set by the pastry Chef are carried out efficiently and effectively while maintaining the standards of the kitchen

· Ensure food preparation waste is kept to a minimum

· Ensure energy ie gas, electric is kept to a minimum

· Assist the pastry Chef with ideas for new dishes that reflect L’Ortolan’s standards and customer expectations

· Alongside the pastry Chef ascertain the next day’s business and order foodstuffs accordingly
