We are currently recruiting for the following positions at L'Ortolan:

Head Waiter/Waitress around £25kpa
Experience preferable - 1 year as a Head Waiter/Waitress in a  fine dining restaurant

Train and continually develop the Restaurant team to achieve their personal best

• On a day to day basis plan, organise and direct the work of the Restaurant Team

• Lead by setting a good example

• Check all dining areas prior to service

• Maintain staff efficiency and morale in the restaurant at the highest level

• Resolve customer complaints about food quality or service

• Assist restaurant service to ensure a smooth and professional operation of the restaurant

• Assist the Restaurant Manager with telephone answering, reservations handling, welcoming guests, recommending menu and specials, taking orders, billing, maintain fresh flower arrangements, set up cooking classes with table decoration session, VIP guest management

• Learn and be fluent in menu ingredients, food preparations and special dietary requirements

• Maintain high personal appearance and hygiene standards.

• Be customer orientated, welcoming and friendly; maintain a professional & respectful attitude and behaviour to guests, colleagues & management
Chef de Rang - around £21kpa
• Deliver outstanding customer service at all times

• Welcoming customers and presenting menus 

• Taking orders - offering suggestions and demonstrating product knowledge at all times 
• Serving drinks and food to guests 
• Up-sell when appropriate 
• Accepting orders and payment
• Assist in setting up and closing down the restaurant areas ready for service or the next day
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff 

• Prior experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a fine dining restaurant an advantage.


For starters in a chef-ing career we are happy to encourage training and development alongside any hospitality and tourism courses. Even if you are not at college we can organise a suitable college course for you and give you a great career in cooking.
